About the Committee

The Students Welfare Sub-Committee of PCSWC is dedicated to supporting Pakistani and international students in Australia by addressing welfare, wellbeing, workplace, and settlement-related challenges. The committee focuses on awareness, guidance, advocacy, and referral pathways to help students navigate academic life, employment, and everyday systems with confidence and safety.

Goals & Objectives

Student Support & Wellbeing

We promote student wellbeing, mental health awareness, social inclusion, and support for students facing isolation and stress.

Awareness of Student Rights

We empower students to understand their rights and reduce fear in seeking help, while improving awareness of legal protections and support systems available to students.

Workplace Protection & Awareness

We address workplace exploitation, underpayment, and misinformation that can affect students while working in Australia.

Career Development Support

We support career development by providing guidance on resumes, networking, and pathways to skilled employment.

Access to Support Services

We increase awareness of counselling services, legal support options, and referral pathways so students can access help at the right time.

Key Responsibilities

Student Welfare Guidance

We provide information, education, and referral support for mental health, wellbeing, and isolation-related concerns.

Support for Settlement & Adjustment

We guide students on everyday settlement matters including banking, mobile plans, transport, healthcare, and clinics.

Student Awareness Sessions

We deliver education sessions and awareness initiatives on wellbeing, counselling services, and student support systems.

Coordination With Relevant Support Channels

We guide students to appropriate university services and external support organisations when professional support is required.

Work Rights & Safety Awareness

We raise awareness about workplace rights, minimum wage, training fees, tax obligations, and work-related injuries.

Community Engagement for Students

We establish communication platforms, online engagement groups, and student-focused events in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

Convener Profile

Syed Mustafa Kazmi is a committed community leader, student advocate, and social entrepreneur, currently serving as Convener of the Students Welfare Committee. He has an extensive background in community activism, supporting students and migrant communities across Australia in areas including student welfare, settlement support, employment guidance, and access to essential services. His work focuses on awareness and building clear pathways that help individuals navigate systems confidently and achieve long-term success.
