Pakistani Community & Student Welfare Committee

Family Care & Support Sub Committee

About the Committee

The Family Care & Support Committee is established to provide culturally safe education, awareness, and referral pathway support for Pakistani and Muslim communities across Victoria, South Australia, and Tasmania. The committee helps community members understand Family and Domestic Violence (FDV), Australian legal and visa protections, and authentic Islamic guidance, with a strong focus on child safety, victim-survivor rights, perpetrator accountability, harm prevention, and early intervention.

Goals & Objectives

Culturally Safe FDV Awareness

We deliver culturally safe education and awareness on Family and Domestic Violence, including understanding risk factors, indicators, and impacts on women and children.

Legal & Visa Protection Awareness

We improve community understanding of Australian legal systems, family violence protections, and visa safeguards relevant to migrant and refugee communities.

Authentic Islamic Guidance

We promote accurate and ethical Islamic guidance that supports safety, dignity, justice, and accountability, and challenges harmful misinterpretations that excuse violence.

Specialist Referral Pathways

We strengthen access to specialist referral pathways for both victim-survivors and perpetrators, while prioritising the safety and wellbeing of children.

Early Intervention & Harm Prevention

We support early intervention and help-seeking behaviour to reduce harm and promote safe family dynamics within the community.

Key Responsibilities

Partnerships With Specialist Services

We establish partnerships with specialist family violence services, legal and migration support services, child and family services, and culturally responsive organisations.

Community Education Sessions

We design and deliver regular education and awareness activities consistent with best-practice family safety approaches.

Engagement With Community Centres

We engage with mosques, schools, and community centres to support prevention, early intervention, and referral initiatives.

Culturally Appropriate Resources

We develop culturally appropriate resources that outline rights, responsibilities, safety considerations, and support options for victim-survivors and perpetrators.

Awareness Campaigns

We initiate and oversee awareness campaigns through social media and community radio to reduce stigma and encourage early help-seeking.

Confidential & Ethical Conduct

We operate with confidentiality, ethical conduct, cultural safety, and child-safe principles while following privacy and legal requirements where applicable.
